Jess Dudley is the Aboriginal Relationships Officer at Birth, Death and Marriages (BDM). Jess is a proud Noongar woman working off-country and Rose Stone is a Senior Policy and Project Officer at BDM, and together with Kristen Bell, former Aboriginal Relationships Officer, helped initiate BDM’s Strong identity, strong spirit campaign. Both spoke on 3KND about their roles in BDM and the services offered by the department.
They’re both based in Melbourne, but regularly travel to communities across Victoria to deliver BDM services directly to Aboriginal Victorians.
We want community to know that we have an Aboriginal worker who can help them with our services, and do so in a culturally-safe way.
Certificates of birth, death or marriage provide dates and details about key life events, and are a good starting point in constructing a person’s history.
